From September 29 to October 1, the NGO "Community Self-Help" organized a training session in Kherson as part of the Global Course on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Children.
The training brought together representatives of mobile teams, police, the State Emergency Service, and civilian-military cooperation. Participants enhanced their understanding of how to provide psychosocial support for children during wartime.
A key part of the training involved developing a territorial map to:
Identify available support services,
Highlight the unmet needs of specific communities,
Mark safe spaces for children to play and feel secure,
Pinpoint risks and threats, such as mined areas.
Participants also explored their roles within the WHO’s service pyramid and ways to collaborate effectively with representatives from other levels.
One of the most valuable outcomes was the opportunity for participants to support one another, exchange experiences, and plan how to deliver comprehensive and effective assistance to children in future crises.
The project "Supporting Child Mental Health in De-Occupied Territories of Ukraine" is implemented by the Global Health Program of Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University (USA), in partnership with the NGO "Community Self-Help" (Ukraine).
