This year, Ukraine is joining the global community in marking World Children’s Day on November 20 for the first time.
It was on this date that two key international documents on children’s rights were adopted:
the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959)
the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989)
Previously, Children’s Day in Ukraine was observed on June 1 — a tradition inherited from the former socialist bloc and not aligned with global practice. From now on, November 20 will officially be the day when Ukraine celebrates childhood, care, well-being, and the rights of every child — together with the world.
We invite children, teenagers, parents, teachers, psychologists, social workers, volunteers, and everyone who works or interacts with children to join the nationwide initiative “Well-Being Flower.”
To participate, all you need is a sheet of paper and colored pencils.
Draw your own “Well-Being Flower” — a symbol of growth, care, safety, and support — and share a photo of your process or finished drawing on social media with the hashtag 👉 #WellbeingFlower
📍 You can take part at home, at school, at university, in a children’s group, within your community, or with a team of volunteers.
The aim of this initiative is to highlight what helps children thrive, and to remind everyone that every child has the right to love, safety, rest, education, play, dreams, and care.
Together, we will create a field of “well-being flowers” — voices of children, families, schools, and communities about what helps us grow, recover, and dream.
1️⃣ Draw a flower with 5–8 petals.
2️⃣ In the center, write your name or a word that symbolizes inner strength or personal meaning
(for example: “Me,” “My world,” “My soul,” “My well-being”).
3️⃣ On each petal, write one area of well-being, such as:
Body
Emotions
Thoughts
Friends / Relationships
Safety
Rest / Play
Meaning / Dreams
4️⃣ Leave space to add your own words — what helps you feel well in each area.
Examples:
Body: “I feel good when I dance”
Friends: “I love it when we laugh together”
Safety: “When my mom is near”
5️⃣ Use colors, symbols, or small drawings to express your mood.
6️⃣ Share a photo of your flower or the drawing process with the hashtag 👉 #WellbeingFlower
