“This connection enhances activities“ – Lorraine Mishchuk.

"10 months of achievements, crisis interventions and building a network of international trust: report and goals of the NGO "Community Self-Help" - press conference held in February 2023. Among the speakers of the event Lorraine-Orysya Mishchuk spoke.

Lorraine Mishchuk, O.T. Reg. (MB), general director and manager of the medical center “Maximize human capabilities” (Manitoba, Canada), representative of Community Self-Help in Canada:

"There is a large Ukrainian community in Canada that initiates and supports many activities to help. Smaller NGOs that have grass roots in Ukraine, such as Community Self-Help, are more effective and enable immediate response.

I have been involved in raising awareness and raising local funds, being a #OTs4Ukraine Chairperson. We created accessories pointing out the longstanding connection of Ukraine and Canada. On these funds, medical packages containing bandages and other medical equipment have been sent out to Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Soldiers who are fighting for Ukraine.

Partnering with other local organisations, Ukrainian Canadian Congress in Manitoba, we developed a representation (including pictural) of the events for people to study, and held the International Congress with representatives from the Federal Government, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and other politicians attending. This connection enhances activities.

My role was also to make clear to people how funds are used and what is needed. We plan to expand this activity through Canada".
