Skills for Support: Training for Specialists from Chernihiv and Sumy Regions
14.10.2024

Representatives of the State Emergency Service (SES) and police from de-occupied areas of Chernihiv and Sumy regions are often the first to arrive at the scene to address the aftermath of events. Meanwhile, specialists from mobile teams continue to provide psychosocial support in these regions. A significant part of their work with children involves educating them about the dangers of landmines, as many areas remain heavily mined.

Acquiring fundamental and professional skills to support families—caregivers, parents, and children—is crucial for improving the psychological well-being of de-occupied communities in these regions.

We gathered feedback from participants of the Global Course on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) for children during wartime, which was recently held in Zakarpattia.

The project "Supporting Child Mental Health in De-Occupied Territories of Ukraine" is implemented by the Global Health Program of Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University (USA), in partnership with the NGO "Community Self-Help" (Ukraine).
