Empathetic Care: How to Talk to Children About War
18.10.2024

Communities in frontline and de-occupied areas have an acute need for tools to provide psychosocial support to children and adolescents.

The team of the NGO "Community Self-Help," in collaboration with Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard University, is actively working to deliver these tools through the Global Course on Psychosocial Support for children living in wartime conditions.

The course aims to train rescuers, military personnel, and psychologists working in de-occupied territories to engage with families who have experienced encirclement or occupation.

In an article for Nikopol.City, our colleague, Marta Pyvovarenko, Head of the Department of Quality Assurance for MHPSS Services, shares why it is essential to talk to children about war and how to do so with care and sensitivity.

The project "Supporting Child Mental Health in De-Occupied Territories of Ukraine" is implemented by the Global Health Program of Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University (USA), in partnership with the NGO "Community Self-Help" (Ukraine).
