A new level of collaboration between the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the NGO "Community Self-Help "
30.05.2024

Acting Minister of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, Oleksandr Porkhun, and Chairman of the Board of the NGO "Community Self-Help " Vitaliy Kharechko, signed a Memorandum of Partnership to enhance the implementation of measures and projects supporting war veterans and their families.

πŸ”Ή "Community Self-Help " initially an initiative group, began its activities in 2015. Its mission is to defend the interests of Ukraine's Defenders, internally displaced persons (IDPs), their families, and to foster self-reliance skills within the civil society community. The diligent work in supporting veterans and establishing international relations, particularly advocating for the "Veteran Travel Card," has been ongoing since 2020 and continues today. This significant effort is largely credited to Marta Pyvovarenko, Head of the Department of Quality Assurance of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services at the NGO "Community Self-Help "

"Today, we have reached a new level of collaboration, formalizing the relationship between our "Community Self-Help " and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs. Our goal is a healthy, fulfilled Ukrainian veteran who has every opportunity for personal development, family growth, and contribution to the country! We are directing our efforts towards improving services and standards of veteran support and expanding international cooperation. Moving forward, we are bringing Ukraine closer to victory!" stated Vitaliy Kharechko.

πŸ”ΉThe areas of cooperation with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs include:

πŸ“ Implementation of the transition from military service to civilian life;

πŸ“ Psychological rehabilitation;

πŸ“ Employment of war veterans and other measures to support and integrate veterans into society.

πŸ”Ή These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for war veterans and their families, including providing medical care to veterans after their discharge from military service.

The signing of the memorandum was preceded by meticulous work and a series of strategic meetings. Together with our partners, we outlined a range of tasks and plans, which we will discuss in more detail in the next publication.

The activities of the NGO "Community Self-Help " are supported by ISAR Ednannia as part of the Sectoral Support Initiative for Civil Society, funded by USAID.
